- Rimstock Ltd required AFRC to support a program of work focussed on improving their current manufacturing process for alloy wheels. Ultimately this will optimise the production route to enable Rimstock to support larger wheel development and production programs in future. The primary manufacturing route considered for this project includes rotary forging of a preform which is then flow formed and machined to the final geometry. AFRC engineers visited Rimstock’s facility to walk-the-line and understand key challenges and potential areas for improvement at each production stage. Key priority areas were identified and were addressed in different constituent work packages of the project. This project was proposed as a first phase of a larger program of development which will include process optimisation, automation, and digitisation.
